Adirondackers - Living in the Past

These are portraits I did from old family photos of my relatives from the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. They were hard-working miners and farmers, most of whom were decendants of  American Revolutionary War Pensioners.  

I am proud to come from these honest, hard-working, and good-hearted people.  Scroll below for larger view and to order.

Uncle Ramey worked in the graphite mines in Ticonderoga and surrounding areas. He and Aunt Effie were residents of the Adirondack mountains in upstate New York.

Adirondackers Living in the Past - Grandma Swinton and adopted daughter, Catherine Sterling Medium-Pencil, vine charcoal, and pastel. Archival quality giclee print. Catherine Sterling was adopted out to Great Great Grandma Swinton because her family could not afford to take care of her. She went on to marry a good and kind man.

Adirondackers Living in the Past - Grandpa and Grandma Swinton. Medium-Pencil, vine charcoal, and pastel. Grandpa Swinton raced his trotters at the tracks in Ticonderoga, New York. He was a horse trader as well.
